Fall Update

With the great forecast of the weather over the next few weeks the real riding season is upon us. So we all need to get out and ride as much as we can before colder weather gets a hold on us. The horse flies are gone along with the heat so load up your horse and head out to your favorite trails.

Kelly and I rode at Burr Oak yesterday and the trails are in really good shape. We ran across Rodney Edgell as he was coming off the Blue trail on his horse Ralph. Rodney agreed that it was a great day to ride, and it gave us a chance to check on the trails before the Fall Ride that is coming in two weeks.

Many of our chapter members attended the 12th Annual Jack Fallon Memorial Ride at Coshocton AEP in September. It was reported that the trails were in great shape and the food was excellent. They had a great hog roast and auction, and our own Don Wagner won the gas grill so congrats to Don.

Tresa Spring hosted her second annual “Girls Ride” once again at her place in October. Several of the girls showed up and it was reported that they had a grand old time. I am including some pictures of Diane, Carol, Marsha, and Tracey all enjoying themselves at the ride.

A few of us braved the weather to attend the Meigs County OHC Festival of the Leaves Memorial Ride. We all got wet, a few actually rode horses, we were all well fed and all had a good time. Our own president Kelly Christman won the poker run. Thanks to the Meigs folks who are always excellent hosts and provide for a great time.

At this time the weather looks good for our Fall Ride and Soup Cook-Off. Of course it is 11 days away, on October 16, 17 and 18, so things could change but we hope it stays dry. The trails at Burr Oak are in great shape despite all the rain we have had the past week. So if the rain holds off I am sure we will have some great rides, and enjoy some really good soup.

Our final scheduled ride of the year will be at Stone Church on November 7th and 8th. It is a free camping weekend so come out and enjoy the wonderful trails. Remember Stone Church has covered stalls in the main camping area for your horses. It will be a great weekend rain or shine.

Don’t forget everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend our meetings. We have a door prize and 50/50 drawing each month and the Top Hat has excellent food. Please join us on the second Tuesday of each month at the Top Hat Restaurant in Junction City. Our next meeting is October 13th.  As always, blessed are the trails we all ride.
